Description
The South Sound Classical Choir, under the auspices of the Valley Arts Society, is currently made up of about 60 members in the South Puget Sound area of Washington who enjoy singing and performing classical choral music and modern works with a classical sound. For a choir with no auditions we have a great sound and enthusiastic membership. If you would like to listen to some of our work, go to YouTube.com and type in South Sound Classical Choir. You will find several pieces of ours, including The Ground by Ola Gjeilo, the piece which got us invited to sing at Carnegie Hall in New York in 2018. Enjoy!
We rehearse in the choir room at Mount Tahoma High School, 4634 S. 74th Street, Tacoma, Mondays from 7 to 9 pm. We take June-August off and begin our spring season the Monday after New Years Day and our fall season the first Monday after Labor Day. Dues are $20/month, but new members get the first month free. In addition, members in financial difficulty can speak to the treasurer privately and be put on scholarship. Auditions are not required, except for those requesting to sing solos during our performances.
Come sing with us! Since there are no auditions you can just find a seat and start singing. For more information, contact choir director Sheri-Ann Nishiyama at nishiyamasheri@gmail.com.
