Description

The South Sound Classical Choir, under the auspices of the Valley Arts Society, a 501 (c)(3), is made up of 50 - 60 community members from Puyallup, Tacoma and surrounding South Puget Sound areas who love to sing a diverse musical repertoire that includes classical music from Renaissance to modern periods. We were honored with an invitation to participate in a performance of Ola Gjeilo's compositions at Carnegie Hall on April 15, 2018!

Weekly rehearsals for our Spring concert season begin the second Monday of January at Mt. Tahoma High School in Tacoma from 7 to 9 pm. We take the summers off and begin our Fall season on the Monday after Labor Day. We typically sing four concerts in early December and four in early May.

Dues are $20/month, but new members and past members returning from "sabbatical" get the first month free. Scholarships are available for members in financial difficulty. Auditions are not required, except for those requesting to sing solos during our performances. For information on joining, contact choir director Sheri-Ann Nishiyama or come to a choir practice and you will be welcomed.

Unfortunately, our beloved Music Director, Dr. David LaBerge, retired at the end of Spring season. Very fortunately indeed we have found Sheri-Ann Nishiyama who has agreed to take the baton for us. We are excited for the future of the South Sound Classical Choir!
