Description

Dedicated to the people of Ukraine, the concert opens with Mykola Lysenko’s “A Prayer for Ukraine.” Bellingham pianist Henry From, named one of CBC Music’s 2019 “30 hot Canadian classical musicians under 30,” joins the chorale, orchestra, and soloists Ibidunni Ojikutu, soprano; Jason Parker, tenor; and Mark Davies, baritone, to perform Beethoven’s “Choral Fantasy.” Sacred works by Mendelssohn, including “Verleih uns Frieden” (Grant Us Peace) and the sublime “Hear Ye Israel,” performed by soprano Kim Markworth, round out what will be an uplifting concert!
