“Let Me Not Stray” seeks to illuminate the many personae of Thomas Tallis, chapel musician to the final 4 Tudor rulers: Henry VIII, Edward VI, Mary I & Elizabeth I. Tallis expertly navigated the shifting tides of religious upheaval in 16th c. England by composing sacred music to suit his devout employers. This program includes pieces from the austere English service music for Edward VI to the extravagant polyphony for Queen Mary I, and culminating in the mature motets for Queen Elizabeth.
