Description

All endings bring the hope of renewal. Musical descriptions of the Last Judgment and the Archangel Michael’s final defeat the devil include works of Scheidt, Vulpius, Gumpelzhaimer, and the Sacred Harp tradition. Jonathan Dove’s thrilling cycle, The Passing of the Year, closes our season with Tennyson’s words, “Ring in the thousand years of peace!”
