Description
The Kulshan Chorus of Bellingham, WA is a community choir committed to music education and spirited performances, celebrating the common bonds of humanity through music. Performing since 1987, the intergenerational, secular and multicultural Kulshan Chorus draws on music from America’s vast cultural roots including a range of styles and origins. The chorus' repertoire spans American folk classics to world music; well-known choral works to new premiers. This eclectic mix celebrates the world’s cultures for both the community of singers and the wider community.
The Kulshan Chorus performs regular concert seasons and special outreach concerts. The Kulshan Chorus has also partnered with the Interfaith Coalition, Bellingham’s Martin Luther King, Jr. city-wide celebration, Habitat for Humanity, Sean Humphrey House AIDS Shelter, Whatcom Human Rights Task Force, Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services, and the Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center to support the mission of these non-profits through music.
Additionally, the Kulshan Chorus has toured internationally, sharing music with host choirs and musicians in indigenous villages and towns of Ecuador, rural France and Switzerland, Romania, Costa Rica, Norway, Greece and Croatia. The singers, pool of musicians, and artistic director, Dustin Willetts, maintain a high level of musical excellence for the powerful and colorful Kulshan Chorus.
