Description

Ancora was started twenty years ago by alumnae of the Seattle Girls' Choir and has since expanded to include members from the singing community. Ancora is a nonprofit educational organization composed of women who endeavor to improve and develop their vocal talents and music education. Members continue their commitment to musical excellence while building friendships and support among singers. Ancora performs outstanding choral music through a challenging program of rehearsals and concerts, and enriches the arts community by sharing exquisite music for treble voices with the public.

We rehearse weekly on Thursday nights from 7:15 to 9:15 p.m. at Woodlawn Hall. in Seattle's Green Lake neighborhood. Rehearsals for our upcoming 20th anniversary season begin on September 7 and run from 7:15 to 9:15 p.m. Two major concerts are scheduled for the season: “Circles of Joy” on January 27, 2024, celebrating 20 years of Ancora, and “Veriditas,” celebrating the greening of our world, on June 15, 2024.

MISSION STATEMENT: Ancora’s mission is to explore and reveal the possibilities of music composed for women’s voices with passion and artistry.
