Description

Zomerzang (Dutch for summer song) is a summer choir for those who want to experience Medieval music.

For 2020, Zomerzang is going virtual and will be held via Zoom on Monday evenings.
For this special pandemic version of Zomerzang (“Zoomerzang”?) we invite all comers to join the fun. All genders, all ages, all musical specialties, all skill levels, in any location -- all are welcome to sing with us, join us on an instrument, or even just listen, if you like. There are no music-skill requirements, although basic note-reading ability is helpful.

In the Zoom sessions, all participants will be muted, so you’ll only hear yourself and whatever music comes from the director.

There is no fee for participation in Zomerzang 2020, although donations to the Medieval Women’s Choir are encouraged.

Zomerzang 2020 dates:
• Monday, July 13
• Monday, July 20
• Monday, July 27
• Monday, August 3

Zomerzang 2020 sessions will begin at 7:00 p.m. At 8:30 p.m. PDT we’ll transition to questions/discussions/social time and aim to wrap up by 9:00 p.m. PDT.

Registratants will receive a Zoom invitation and PDFs of the music via email prior to each session.

The repertoire for 2020 includes:
• Music from the Llibre Vermell de Montserrat, a late-14th-century manuscript that originates from and still resides at the monastery of Montserrat, near Barcelona, Spain.
• English repertoire, including music in honor of Thomas of Canterbury
