This winter session we take a moment to explore the journey of connection, belonging, and inner peace. We will be joined by high school groups from around the area and collaborate with the amazing Sunghee Kim, organist extraordinaire! The crux of the concert will be Jonathan Dove's, Seek Him That Maketh the Seven Stars. A driving piece of complex rhythm and atmospheric organ parts, we weave a story that depicts the stars themselves. Morten Lauridsen's beloved Sure on this Shining Night is familiar and touching. Sarah Quartel both beconds the child to sing for each new morning in Sing My Child, and lulls us to inner peace with On this Silent Night. Daniel Schreiner's O Come Emmanuel makes its return, with composer conducting, as we remember his inventive and haunting rendition. We end our set with an incredibly powerful message with text by James Weldon Johnson and music by Marques Garrett in My Heart Be Brave: "Rise up, and, casting off thy hind'ring shrouds, tho' thick the battle and tho' fierce the fight, there is power in making for the right."
