Auditions

Auditions for Opus 7 will be held on August 17th and throughout the year. If you are interested in auditioning, please email Loren Ponten at loren@opus7.org.

Audition Process

Please bring a prepared selection to the audition that highlights the best qualities of your voice. This can be an art song, hymn or a selection from a choral piece that you know. Be prepared to sing this a cappella.

Logistics

People have joined Opus 7 to rehearse in detail and perform with excellence the most challenging and beautiful works of the a cappella choral repertory. Opus 7 singers are good to excellent sight-readers. Those that don’t have good sight-reading skills spend whatever time is needed outside of rehearsals learning their parts on their own. To that end, it is understood that when singers commit to a project, they are expected to know their part by the second rehearsal.

Rehearsals occur normally on Wednesdays from 7:15 – 9:45 p.m. with occasional rehearsals on the weekends especially the week of the concert.

Opus 7 prides itself in excellent ensemble singing. We all know that this depends on everyone’s attendance, and that every rehearsal for a given concert requires each member’s full priority. By committing to a concert, it is understood that members will attend every rehearsal for that project.
