Description
Opus 7, conducted by Loren Pontén, presents Advent and Christmas works featuring settings of the “Great O Antiphons” from Eastern Europe and the United States, including two by Seattle composers. Four settings—by Tadja Vulc, Rihards Dubra, Melissa Dunphy, and Kile Smith—are Northwest premieres. Other works include Scheidt’s “A Child is Born in Bethlehem”; Georg Schumann’s “Vom himmel hoch”; Łukaszewski’s “Ave Maria”; two Christmas works by Georgy Sviridov; and “O nata lux” by Morten Lauridsen.
