Description
Tales of Greek myth have fascinated musicians since ancient times. Not the least of these is Johannes Brahms in his setting of Schiller’s poem Nänie. This funeral song makes nameless reference to three especially familiar myths, including that of Orpheus. The program also includes works by Bach, Handel, Beethoven, and more.
