Lesson and CarolsSeattle Girls Choir - Allegra joins the Bryd Ensemble
An elegant prelude to the holiday season Lessons and Carols is a wonderful English tradition dating back to 1880, but popularized by the Choir of King’s College, Cambridge in 1918. The general format is a reading from the bible (usually the King James version, as it is an Anglican tradition), starting with younger members of the chorus and progressing “up” through the group. The reading is followed by a song by the choir related to the reading, followed by a carol sung by the whole audience.
Allegra has been invited to join the Byrd Ensemble to present this Lessons and Carols program. The Byrd Ensemble is a highly acclaimed Seattle-based professional ensemble that performs regularly in the region and internationally.
