Don't Stop!Spring Concert
Description
Our spring concert this year - "Don't Stop!" - will be an energetic and heart-felt exploration of diverse choral works beloved by both performers and audiences. On the popular/contemporary side we will offer the famous ode to the joys of coffee drinking, “Java Jive,” in an arrangement made famous by The Manhattan Transfer. Add to this the heart-felt “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen and the breezy “Music” by Carole King. We also get to hear our friend and outstanding baritone soloist Tim Clements-Levin featured in this concert’s namesake, “Don’t Stop Believing,” made eternally famous by the hit TV series “Glee.” And our friends, The Music Center of the Northwest Chorale offer up “I Got the Music In Me,” a classic from the disco era.
From the more standard and classical choral repertoire we are delighted to present “As Torrents in Summer” by Edward Elgar and “The Rose” by Ola Gjeilo. The highlight of this concert will be the profound and beautiful “Sure on This Shining Night” by Morten Lauridsen. We also present a sassy folk song from Ecuador in the indigenous Quechua language and a rousing arrangement of the African-American spiritual “This Train is Bound for Glory.” Truly something for everyone.
