2019 Seattle Sings Festival
Description
Join us for the Greater Seattle Choral Consortium’s fourth biennial Seattle Sings Choral Festival, showcasing 35 dynamic choirs of all types and styles from around the Puget Sound region: medieval to barbershop, jazz to classical, men’s and women’s and SATB choirs, heritage choirs and more.
This year we welcome Northwest composer, Ethan Sperry, as the festival’s composer-in-residence. Mr. Sperry has been commissioned by the GSCC to compose this year’s festival anthem and will be present to conduct participating choirs and audience in the festival anthem periodically throughout the festival.
Friday evening will honor Northwest composer Morten Lauridsen for his many years of service to choral music, and will feature six choirs presenting a retrospective of his works. Lauridsen himself will be in attendance and to cap the evening will lead the audience and choirs in one of his most beloved works, “Sure On This Shining Night.”
