Sacred and Profane: Carmina BuranaHaydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms and Orff
Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra and the Bainbridge Chorale join forces for another extraordinary partnership. Together they will perform iconic sacred works by Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms before turning their attention to Carl Orff’s instantly recognizable Carmina Burana. A manuscript containing poetry and songs was discovered in 1803 in a Benedictine monastery in Germany and set to music by Orff. Hardly sacred in nature, the poems satirize, complain about, and revel in all aspects of life.
